SYNOPSIS: A story of the Italian district told by Lon Chaney, Pauline Bush and Murdock MacQuarrie. Giovanni is engaged to marry Carlotta, but being in need of money, arranges to sell her to supposed white slavers. Tony, a friend, and her father come to her rescue. The girl is returned home safely.

"The makeups would stand improvement...The fight between Giovanni and the old father is very realistic, almost too much so." --Motion Picture News

"A one-reel offering by Lou (sic) Chaney, who plays the villain's part...The Italian characterizations are good and the settings in keeping...The photography is fair." --- Moving Picture World

NOTES: This film was also released under the title CARLOTTA THE BEAD STRINGER, and prior to relase some sources incorrectly refer to the film as THE MENACE OF CARLOTTE. This was the first of five screenplays that Chaney would write while at Universal.
