SYNOPSIS: Mac, Jacques, and Jacques' sister, Marie have grown up together in a small town in the Rockies. Mac and Marie love each other, but Mac want to make something of his life so he travels to the city. He soon tires of city life and returns to join the Mounties. Forrest, a fellow Mountie, is sent to Mac's old country to investigate smuggling. There hs meets Marie and makes advances towards her. In the complications that follow, Forrest is killed by Jacques and Mac is soon sent to investigate the murderer. When he returns to his home town, Mac is jeered by his friends for wearing the despised "red- coat" and even Marie scorns him. A "Canuck" whom Jacques once knocked down tells Mac about the murder and Mac is forced to arrest his friend. When the townspeople attack, Jacques fights by Mac's side. Mac refuses to take Jacques back as prisoner, but Jacques reminds him of his duty, they struggle and go down together into a pool beneath the treacherous "Devil's Slide."
